OpenAudio Introduces Event-Driven Audio Automation Across HOLOWHAS Multi-Zone Streaming Platforms
OpenAudio today announced a major enhancement to its HOLOWHAS multi-zone streaming audio platform with the introduction of Event-Driven Audio Automation, enabling intelligent audio responses to real-world events across residential, hospitality, and smart building environments.
Traditionally, multi-room audio systems have focused on music playback and source distribution. With this new capability, HOLOWHAS systems can now participate directly in automation workflows by responding to events generated from smart home, building automation, and third-party control platforms.
From Audio Playback to Audio Orchestration
The new Event-Driven Audio framework allows external systems to trigger audio actions based on real-world conditions and automation logic.
Examples include:
- Doorbell announcements across selected zones
- Alarm and security notifications
- Voice and TTS (Text-to-Speech) playback
- Occupancy-triggered audio actions
- Building automation events
- Hospitality service notifications
- Priority emergency broadcasts
By introducing event-aware audio behavior, HOLOWHAS evolves from a traditional multi-room audio platform into an intelligent audio orchestration layer for connected environments.

Native Integration with Smart Home Ecosystems
The Event-Driven Audio framework complements OpenAudio’s existing integration capabilities, including:
- Home Assistant
- KNX
- Matter
- Control4
- RTI
- REST API integrations
Combined with native metadata support, the system can expose real-time playback information including:
- Track Title
- Artist
- Album
- Cover Art
- Playback State
- Progress Information
within compatible automation and visualization platforms.
Priority Audio Management
The platform introduces intelligent priority-based audio handling.
For example:
- Doorbell notifications can temporarily interrupt music playback
- Emergency announcements can override all active zones
- TTS messages can be injected into selected rooms
- Music playback can automatically resume once announcements are completed
This architecture enables more advanced automation scenarios while preserving the user listening experience.
Designed for Residential and Hospitality Deployments
The new capability is applicable across a wide range of deployment scenarios, including:
- Smart homes
- Luxury residences
- Hotels and resorts
- Multi-dwelling projects
- Smart offices
- Commercial facilities
The Event-Driven Audio framework is being rolled out across supported HOLOWHAS multi-zone streaming amplifier platforms.

According to Darren Ma, Ph.D., Business Development Director at OpenAudio:
“Audio should not exist as an isolated subsystem. As buildings become increasingly connected, audio must become an active participant in automation workflows. Event-Driven Audio allows audio systems to react intelligently to real-world events and deliver meaningful information throughout the environment.”
